Ganderbal: Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering (IISM) completed its second water ski course today in which more than 30 students from various parts of the country including many from Kashmir participated. A graduation ceremony was held at Manasbal in which Shri Gh.Mohd Bhat, KAS, Chief Executive Officer, Manasbal Development Authority, Manasbal was the chief guest who gave away the prizes to the winners of various events. Amongst students were engineers & school/college/university students.
Shri A. M. Bhat, Superintendent, IISM, Srinagar welcomed all the guests and briefed about the various activities being undertaken by the institute under the dynamic leadership of our Principal Dr.(Prof. Alok Sharma) and officers at Ministry of Tourism, New Delhi. He said that adventure training is very essential part of our education to develop the personality of our youth which cannot be done in the protected environments of schools & colleges. IISM is very popular Institute of the Nation and plays a very vital role to promote tourism in the J&K. Adventure training motivates students to face all challenges of life in cheerful way and distracts them from social evils.
Shri G. M. Bhat, KAS expressed his deep sense of satisfaction on the excellent conduct of water skiing training by IISM in Manasbal Lake. He said he is very happy to see the hard work put in by staff of IISM. He said such courses are very important to make our youth self reliant. He told that in such courses one develops a strong bonding with their peers which lasts for rest of their life. Shri Bhat said that Kashmir is the most beautiful place on the earth and students after completing this water skiing course should become our ambassadors to tell their families and friends to visit Kashmir and enjoy this paradise. He said there is a misconception and fear created by certain vested interest in the mind of the people to not visit Kashmir which can be dispelled by students of IISM. He said our courses generate employment opportunities for the local youth who after courses engage in adventure tourism as guides and instructors. These courses also help to develop the personality of the participants through their exposure to challenging situations. Students expressed their deep sense of satisfaction on high standards of the food, accommodation & training. They all praised the hard working staff for giving them best training and facilities of their life time.
