Ganderbal, August 2025: Renowned Social Activist Mymoona Qureshi has expressed deep sorrow and anguish over the tragic murder of a 14-year-old girl whose body was recovered on the Batsar–Sehpora road.
“This heartbreaking incident has sent shockwaves through every home in Ganderbal and beyond,” Qureshi said. “A young life brimming with potential has been extinguished—a profound loss. That the subsequent arrest of her own sister is the emerging narrative makes this catastrophe even more painful and forces us all to reflect inward.”
She commended the swift action of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and expressed hope that the judicial process will proceed with fairness and sensitivity, ensuring justice for the victim.
However, she cautioned against treating the tragedy merely as a police case. “It is a symptom of a deeper sickness within our homes and society. Our homes must be havens of justice and compassion, where every child feels equally loved, seen, and heard,” she said.
Qureshi issued a heartfelt appeal to parents and guardians:
Be Fair and Just: Avoid favoritism and comparisons among children.
Open Communication: Create safe spaces for children to share their fears without judgment.
Teach Forgiveness: Guide with mercy and wisdom, modeling empathy and unity.
Strengthen Sibling Bonds: Encourage children to support one another as allies, not rivals.
“This tragedy must be a watershed moment,” Qureshi emphasized. “Let us recommit to nurturing our children’s emotional and psychological well-being with the same care we give to their physical health.”
She concluded with prayers for the departed soul and strength for the grieving family, urging society to better protect its most sacred responsibility—its children.
