Anantnag, April 26: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and District Vice President Anantnag, Imran Amin Shah, on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urging its leadership to introspect on its past actions before criticizing others.
Shah questioned the PDP’s alliance with the BJP, alleging that it was formed for “family comforts and political adjustments.” He stated that the party had “compromised its conscience for power” and must be held accountable for its governance in Jammu and Kashmir.
He further called upon PDP President Mehbooba Mufti to clarify her position during her tenure, particularly regarding the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and the closure of Falah-e-Aam schools in 2016. Shah alleged that the period witnessed a “reign of terror,” marked by the use of pellet guns and the detention of thousands of youths. He also expressed concern over those who suffered injuries and long-term disabilities during that time.
Accusing the PDP of corruption and failing the youth, Shah said the party must explain allegations of job scams and administrative shortcomings. He added that the PDP leadership, now out of power, is “shedding crocodile tears” in an attempt to mislead the public and regain power for personal interests.
Shah made these remarks during a day-long visit to umar colony, Hardu-Toor village in the Central Anantnag constituency, where he reviewed ongoing developmental works and listened to public grievances.
