Srinagar | April 11, 2026: Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to maternal health and community welfare, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps organised a special awareness lecture titled “Health, Hygiene & Special Care during Pregnancy” in Uri to mark National Safe Motherhood Day.
The initiative aimed to sensitise expectant mothers about the importance of personal hygiene, balanced nutrition, regular medical check-ups, and timely recognition of early warning signs during pregnancy—especially in remote and resource-constrained regions.
The session placed strong emphasis on antenatal and postnatal care, early identification of high-risk symptoms, and the critical role of mental well-being during pregnancy. It also highlighted the importance of family support within the socio-cultural fabric of Kashmiri society, encouraging community-wide awareness and responsibility.
Operating in far-flung border areas where access to healthcare remains limited, the Indian Army continues to play a crucial role in bridging healthcare gaps through outreach and awareness initiatives.
Residents of Salamabad and adjoining villages of Uri expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Army’s sustained efforts in enhancing healthcare access and ensuring the well-being of mothers and children—reflecting its enduring ethos of service, compassion, and nation-building.
