Sopore, April 05, 2026: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Sopore Police apprehended a drug peddler during naka duty under the jurisdiction of Police Post Fruit Mandi and recovered psychotropic and contraband substances from his possession.
During naka checking at Fruit Mandi Crossing, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. Upon personal search, Codeine Phosphate bottles and charas-like substance were recovered and seized as per due procedure.
The accused has been identified as Sameem Javaid Shah, S/O Javaid Ahmad Shah, R/O Neharpora Sopore.
Accordingly, FIR No. 72/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Sopore Police reiterate their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and reaffirm their commitment to sustained enforcement to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs.
