Srinagar, July 18 : In a landmark move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed Mohammad Anwar Khan as the General Secretary of its Jammu & Kashmir unit, marking the first time a Muslim leader has been entrusted with this key organizational post in the region.
The announcement was made in Jammu after high-level consultations involving BJP National President Shri J.P. Nadda and J&K BJP President Shri Ravinder Raina. Khan’s appointment is being widely hailed as a significant and progressive step toward inclusive politics in the Union Territory.
Mohammad Anwar Khan, widely respected for his grassroots connect and tireless work for inclusive development, enjoys a strong reputation across political, social, and academic circles. His elevation has been met with an outpouring of congratulatory messages from civil society members, political colleagues, and community leaders.
Expressing gratitude following his appointment, Khan stated, “I am humbled by the trust placed in me. I will strive to bridge communities and strengthen unity in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The BJP leadership emphasized that this decision reflects the party’s commitment to representation and empowerment across all sections of society.
In a major organizational reshuffle, Shri Bharat Bhushan (Bodhi), Smt. Priya Sethi, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Shri Rajeev Charak, Shri Rakesh Mahajan, Smt. Rekha Mahajan, Shri Rashpal Verma, and Dr. Shehnaz Ganai have been appointed as the Vice-Presidents of the party in the region.
The position of General Secretaries has been assigned to Smt. Sanjita Dogra, Shri Baldev Singh Billawaria, Shri Anwar Khan, and Shri Gopal Mahajan.
Further strengthening the organizational structure, the party named Smt. Arti Jasrotia, Shri Mudasir Wani, Smt. Reema Padha, Shri Dinesh Sharma, Shri Manjeet Razdan, Shri Arun Sharma, Shri Arif Raja, and Shri Pawan Sharma as Secretaries. (CNS)
