SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: To commemorate ‘International Day of Yoga’-2025 (IDY), District Legal Services Authorities on Friday organised mega functions across all the District Court Complexes of Kashmir under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” reflecting the holistic benefits of yoga in building individual and community well-being.

The practice of yoga asanas or postures enables individuals to attain control over their mind, body and soul, and how it combines physical and mental disciplines to foster a state of serenity in both body and mind, helping to manage stress and anxiety while promoting relaxation.

In Srinagar, District Judiciary Srinagar and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, in collaboration with the department of Ayush, Srinagar, observed International Yoga Day 2025 with zeal and devotion at the District Court Complex, Srinagar.

The event was held under the guidance of Tasleem Arief, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman, DLSA Srinagar) and under the supervision of Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.

The celebration was attended by all the Learned Judicial Officers of the District Judiciary, Srinagar, whose participation lent dignity and inspiration to the occasion.

The program commenced with a live yoga demonstration by professional instructor, followed by a mass yoga session in which a large number of participants, including Judicial Officers, lawyers, Legal Aid Defence Counsels, Para Legal Volunteers, Administrative & Judicial Staff of District Court Srinagar and staff members of DLSA Srinagar enthusiastically took part. The session created a serene and energizing environment, symbolizing unity, mindfulness, and shared purpose.

A special lecture was delivered highlighting the relevance of yoga in reducing stress, enhancing mental clarity, and promoting emotional and physical well-being.

Addressing the gathering, Pr. District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, emphasized that yoga is not merely an exercise regime but a philosophy of balanced living that aligns personal health with the well-being of the earth. He encouraged everyone to embrace yoga as a daily practice to achieve holistic wellness and contribute to collective sustainability.

In addition to the vibrant celebration held at the District Court Complex Srinagar, International Yoga Day was also observed at various Legal Aid Clinics including Central Jail Srinagar and the Juvenile Observation Home.

In Baramulla, District Judiciary Baramulla and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Baramulla celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June at the Court Complex Baramulla.

The event was organized under the guidance of the Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of DLSA Baramulla, and was supervised by the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Baramulla.

Members of the legal fraternity participated in the event with enthusiasm. Participants included Judicial Officers posted at the District Headquarters, President and senior members of the Bar Association Baramulla, Legal Aid Defence Counsels, Panel Lawyers, ministerial staff of the courts, staff of DLSA Baramulla, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs).

A Yoga session was held on the court lawns where trained Yoga instructors and national-level Yoga players from the department of Youth Services and Sports demonstrated various Yoga asanas. Participants actively took part in the session, which created a spirit of unity, peace, and positivity.

The event focused on the importance of Yoga in enhancing both mental and physical health. It also encouraged the adoption of a healthier and more balanced lifestyle in today’s fast-paced world.

In Budgam, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam in collaboration with District Judiciary, Budgam & Department of Ayush, Budgam celebrated 11th International Yoga Day today today in the Court Complex District Court, Budgam and at all Tehsil Legal Services Committees of district budgam.

The event was held under the Chairmanship of O.P.Bhagat, Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt & Sessions Judge) Budgam and under the guidance and supervision of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Budgam.

The event at District Court Complex Budgam was attended by O.P.Bhagat, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Budgam, Additional District and Sessions Judge Budgam, Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam, Secretary DLSA, Budgam, Special Mobile Magistrate Budgam, Munsiff/JMIC Budgam, District Ayush Officer Budgam along with a team of medical officers & supporting staff, Legal Aid Defense Counsels, Panel Lawyers, Bar Members, Staff of District Judiciary & DLSA Budgam, PLVs of District Budgam etc.

Yoga Instructors deputed by District Ayush Budgam, held yoga sessions and emphasized on the importance and relevance of Yoga in the lives of human beings and services of society.

Yoga sessions held aimed to promote the benefits of yoga in physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

While, similar yoga sessions were also conducted at all Tehsil Legal Services Committees at Chadoora, Magam, Beerwah & Charar-i-Sharif Budgam.

At Ganderbal, District Judiciary, Ganderbal, and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal, in collaboration with department of AYUSH, Ganderbal, celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day today at District Court complex, Ganderbal.

The event was conducted under the chairmanship of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA, Ganderbal and was attended by all judicial officers posted at the District headquarter Ganderbal, officers and officials of the department of AYUSH Ganderbal, staff members of the District Judiciary Ganderbal, DLSA Ganderbal, LADCs of DLSA Ganderbal, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of district Ganderbal.

The event aimed to promote the importance of yoga in achieving physical and mental well-being, while also highlighting the significance of adopting a holistic approach to health.

By organizing this event, District Judiciary, Ganderbal, and DLSA Ganderbal demonstrated their commitment to promoting wellness and stress management among their personnel, while also contributing to the global efforts to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga.

At Pulwama, International Yoga Day was celebrated in District Court Complex Pulwama in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports department Pulwama & AYUSH Pulwama under the chairmanship of Malik Shabir Ahmad, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Pulwama.

The programme was attended by Chairman District Legal Services Authority (PDJ) Pulwama, and other judicial officers of district Pulwama along with their staff members, including DLSA staff, LADCs lawyers and PLVs.

On the occasion, Chairman DLSA Pulwama addressed the gathering and highlighted the benefits of Yoga, and also advised the participants to avoid drug abuse. Chairman DLSA also made all the participants pledge against drug abuse.

Moreover, International Yoga Day was also celebrated at TLSCs Tral, Awantipora, and Pampore of district Pulwama.

In Kulgam, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kulgam, celebrated International Yoga Day in collaboration with District Judiciary Kulgam and Dept. of Ayush, Kulgam today on 21 June, 2025.

The event was organized under the chairmanship of Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Kulgam.

Programme was attended by all Judicial Officers of District Headquarter, Officers of Prosecution, District Officer Ayush along with staff, LADCs, staff members of DLSA & Judiciary and PLVs.

During the programme, a master trainer from Ayush Kulgam led the yoga exercises and also highlighted its benefits.

Similar programmes in this connection were also held at TLSC D.H.Pora and Qazigund.

In Kupwara, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kupwara, in collaboration with Ayush Department Kupwara, under the aegis of the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, celebrated the International Yoga Day today with great enthusiasm and participation at the Bar Conference Room, District Court Complex, Kupwara.

The programme brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from the legal services ecosystem, Bar Members, judicial officers, court staff, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs), panel lawyers, members of the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System (LADCS), and other legal aid workers from across the district.

The celebration began with a guided yoga session conducted by a dedicated team of trained instructors from the AYUSH Department, Kupwara. The trainers led participants through a well-structured sequence of yogic asanas (postures), pranayama (controlled breathing), and mindfulness meditation, with a focus on enhancing physical health, relieving stress, and promoting inner stability.

The event promoted unity, health awareness, and the message that yoga is a universal practice for personal and social upliftment.

In Bandipora, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bandipora, in coordination with Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Bandipora and in collaboration with the District Judiciary, Bandipora and District Bar Association Bandipora observed International Yoga Day today at S.K Stadium Bandipora.

The programme was held under the supervision of Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Bandipora.

The event witnessed participation of Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora, Chairman TLSC (Munsiff/JMIC) Bandipora, Chief Administrative Officer, Bandipora, Chief LADC Bandipora, President Bar Association Bandipora along with Bar members, officials of District Court Bandipora, officials of District Legal Services Authority Bandipora, Legal Aid Defence Counsels (LADCs) Bandipora, Panel lawyers and Adhikar Mitras (PLVs) of DLSA Bandipora and TLSC Bandipora.

The event aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among the participants, emphasizing the importance of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Moreover, the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Sumbal also celebrated the International Yoga day under the supervision of Rahila Rashid, Chairperson TLSC (Munsiff/JMIC) Sumbal. The programme was attended by Officials of Additional District and Session Judge Bandipora Sumbal, Officials of Munsiff court Sumbal, Officials of Prosecution Section, officials of TLSC Sumbal and Adhikar Mitras (PLVs) of TLSC Sumbal.

At Gurez, The Tehsil Legal Services Committee Gurez conducted International Yoga day under the supervision and guidance of Mehak Mehboob, Chairperson TLSC (Munsiff/JMIC) Gurez. The programme was attended by Officials of Munsiff court Gurez, Officials of Prosecution Section and Adhikar Mitras (PLVs) of TLSC Gurez.

In Shopian, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian today celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day at the District Court Complex, Shopian.

The event was held under the guidance and supervision of the Chairman, DLSA Shopian, Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary.

The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from Judicial Officers, Advocates, Legal Aid Defense Counsels, Court Staff, DLSA officials, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs).

Yoga instructors led the participants through a series of yoga asanas and breathing exercises, including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Ardha Chakrasana, and various forms of Pranayama.

The event aimed to promote the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic health through the ancient discipline of yoga.
