Srinagar, : A soldier died and nine other army personnel were injured after a vehicle they were travelling in rolled down into a gorge in Verinag area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official told GNS that the army vehicle of 19 RR skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Batagund Verinag.
” one army man is confirmed to have died while nine others having different bodily injuries,” the official said, adding, “all the injured armymen have been taken to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment.”
Meanwhile, Police said that dubbing the road accident as a militant attack on some social media platforms was baseless.
In a handout, the police said that some social media platforms have circulated news that terrorists have attacked Army Vehicle at Batagund top, Dooru which is totally baseless.
“We would like to clarify that it was not a terrorist attack but an unfortunate accident. The vehicle carrying army personnel lost control and skidded off from the road resulting in injuries to them including unfortunate death on one army personnel.”
General Public, the police said, is requested not to pay any heed to such rumours. “Rumour Mongers will be dealt strictly according to Law,” the statement added. (GNS)
