Ganderbal : The Tehsil Administration of Tullamulla and Civil Society Tullamulla joined hands to initiate a large-scale plantation drive in Tullamulla. This collaborative effort aimed at enhancing green cover, promoting environmental sustainability, and combating climate change in the area. The plantation drive included the planting of a significant number of trees across different locations within the tehsil.
The drive was supported by Forest Dept, Agriculture Dept, Floriculture Dept, Horticulture Dept, and officials of various departments.
This collaborative endeavour not only marks the onset of Nauroz, the traditional celebration of spring in Kashmir but also represents a collective commitment towards nurturing green spaces and promoting ecological awareness within the community.
The drive was initiated by Gulzar Ahmad Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal in presence of Javaid Ahmad Zargar, Tehsildar Tullamulla, DFO Sindh Danish Ali, other officers and Manzoor Wani, Chairman Civil Society Tullamulla.
ADC Ganderbal Gulzar Ahmad on the occasion stressed that administration is focused on environmental amelioration of District Ganderbal and appreciated the role of Tehsil Administration, Civil Society Tullamulla and other departments in organizing this drive.
He emphasized that every stakeholder present has to be the green ambassadors and thrive for betterment of our environment which will involve plantation drives, scientific disposal of wastes etc.
The plantation drive in Tullamulla saw the planting of hundreds of saplings of different tree species in various locations across the tehsil which include PHC Tullamulla, Administrative Complex Tullamulla, Central University of Kashmir. The local community members, including students of Hyderia Model High school, government officials, and civil society Members, came together to actively participate in the drive.
The Tehsil Admin Tullamulla and Civil Society Tullamulla have also planned to follow up on the plantation drive by regularly monitoring the growth and health of the saplings to ensure their survival. They aim to make Tullamulla a greener and more sustainable place for the future.
The collaborative effort between the local administration and civil society Tullamulla serves as a great example of how communities can come together to address environmental challenges and work towards a healthier and more sustainable future.
Speaking on the occasion, the Tehsildar Tullamulla Javaid Ahmad Zargar expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the wholehearted support and participation Civil Society members, Health Dept, Forest Dept, Students, CUK administration and other stakeholders in carrying out the plantation event successfully.
Civil Society Chairman Manzoor Wani said, that the plantation will help to counteract the adverse impacts of pollution and protect the fragile environment and such collaborative efforts between the local administration and civil society organizations are essential in fostering environmental stewardship and community engagement.
