Srinagar : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti besides others on Tuesday condemned the killing of two non-local labourers in a grenade blast in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
“Words cannot adequately condemn today’s barbaric attack on Manish Kumar and Ram Sagar from Kannauj, UP. My deepest condolence to their families. Security apparatus has been directed to launch coordinated CT ops.,” Sinha said in a tweet
He said district administration Shopian deputed senior officers to make arrangements for transportation of the mortal remains to their respective villages with full honours.
“We have intensified our efforts to crush (militants) and (militant) ecosystem and have given full freedom to the security forces,” he said, adding, “(militancy) is a curse for the civilised society. People from every community must come together to condemn heinous acts and root out (militant) & its elements.”
Meanwhile, National Conference Party President and MP from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah, said, “I received the news with utmost grief and shock. There are no words strong enough to condemn the attack. I express my sympathies with the bereaved family and pray for peace to the departed souls.”
While condemning the attack, party’s vice president Omar Abdullah said, “Another unacceptable & indefensible targeted attack against minorities in Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences to the families of Monish Kumar & Ram Sagar, may they find strength at this difficult time. Prayers for the souls of the deceased.”
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said: “Distressing to know that two labourers were killed in an attack. At the risk of sounding repetitive, there is no sense of security & dignity for anyone living in J&K.” In a tweet, she said, these issues will be resolved only when GoI acknowledges that they exist.
Sajad Lone, president of JKPC said in a tweet: “Waking up to the horrific news of the dastardly killing of two people who happen to be non locals. Their journey to earn a livelihood ends in bloodbath at the hands goons….”
