New Delhi: In special praise for National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed has described him as the “grandmaster of geopolitics”. Nasheed, currently the speaker of the Maldivian Majlis or Parliament, is in India to attend the Raisina Dialogue. He met NSA Ajit Doval on the sidelines. In a tweet he said: ”It was very pleasant to have a conversation with a grandmaster of geopolitics. excellency #AjitDoval “ Nasheed also met with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and held talks on establishing an India-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group. During the call, Speaker Birla extended an invitation to the members of the Maldives Parliament’s Public Finance Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee to visit India. Discussing the successful implementation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the parliaments of India and Maldives on further cooperation in the areas of digitisation, archives and legislative drafting, Birla hoped that such steps would help in capacity building of the parliamentary institutions of Maldives.
