New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday directed authorities not to take any coercive action till further hearing regarding the removal of around 200 huts in Sarojini Nagar area in the national capital. A Bench of Justices K M Joseph and Justice Hrishikesh Roy passed the interim order. The Supreme Court also issued to the Centre and others on a plea challenging the Delhi High Court order which declined to provide rehabilitation and relocation to the slum dwellers residing in the hutments. The Court was hearing a petition filed by the hutment dwellers from Sarojini Nagar against the eviction orders without rehabilitation. Senior Advocate Vikash Singh, appearing for petitioner, raised the issue that thousands of people will loss their shelter and argued that there must some scheme for rehabilitation. The Court has listed the matter for further hearing to next Monday. The petition was filed by a minor, Vaishali. The petitioner has urged the Supreme Court to grant special leave to appeal the final order and judgment of April 19 passed by the High Court of Delhi. UNI MR
