Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday granted bail to former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Doranda Treasury Case of the Fodder Scam. The court of justice Apresh Kumar Singh granted the bail to Lalu Yadav. The judgment was made following the hearing of arguments from both sides. The lawyers of Lalu Yadav had contented that he has spent more than 40 months in jail which is more than half the period of sentencing that makes him eligible for bail. The court has granted bail to Lalu Yadav with certain conditions including furnishing a private bail bond of Rs 10 lakh, further Lalu Yadav will not be able to leave the country without the permission of the High Court and he will also not change his mobile number and address. The former Bihar Chief Minister was convicted in the Rs 139.35 crore Doranda treasury case on February 15 by a special CBI court in Ranchi. The CBI court had sentenced him to five years of imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 60 lakh. UNI AK ARN
