New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was disrupted on Wednesday on the issue of price rise, forcing Speaker Om Birla to adjourn the House amid protests. Opposition lawmakers from several parties were on their feet soon after the lower house met at 11 am. MPs raised slogans, displayed placards and also trooped near the Speaker’s podium. They protested against rising fuel price, including petrol, diesel and cooking gas. The Speaker tried to continue the proceedings amid sloganeering. However, as MPs continued their agitation, he adjourned the House halfway through the Question Hour. The House was adjourned till 12 noon. “I urge members to go back to their seats. I will give time to members to raise all matters… Getting Parliament adjourned in an organised manner is not our Parliamentary tradition,” Birla said before adjourning the House. UNI AO ING
