Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Friday slipped 246 points to open at 55,218.78 on profit booking by local operators. The Nifty too eased 65 points at 16,528.80. The equity market which was strong since the last three sessions, was seen weak on Friday as selling was witnessed in Energy, FMCG, Industrials and IT stocks. The Sensex registered the days high and low at 55,833.95 and 55,049.95 points respectively. The Nifty registered the days high and low at 16,694.40 and 16,470.90 points respectively. The Mid Cap declined 0.24 pc while Small Cap rose by 0.32 per cent. In 30 scrips, 13 advanced while 17 declined. The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.26 per cent to Rs 7115.30, Hind Unilever by 1.20 per cent to Rs 2075.85, M& M by 0.83 per cent to Rs 732.40, Nestle India Ltd by 0.81 per cent to Rs 17,490.95 and NTPC by 0.60 per cent to Rs 132.10. The gainers were Dr Reddy’s Lab by 0.79 per cent to Rs 3924.85, Bajaj Finserv by 0.79 per cent to Rs 15589 and Axis Bank by 0.72 per cent to Rs 699.80. UNI NV ACL1055
