New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said BJP received tremendous support in the first phase polling in Uttar Pradesh, as he sought the ‘blessings’ of people of Uttarakhand at a rally there. Addressing a rally in Almora, the Prime Minister talked about the works done by BJP government in the state, and promised a new era of development. Speaking a day after around 60.17 per cent votes were polled in the first phase of UP Assembly polls, the PM said, “There was an atmosphere of tremendous enthusiasm for the BJP in the first phase of voting in Uttar Pradesh.” “Voters never forget good work and never leave the side of those who have good intentions. It’s not just BJP, people are fighting this election,” Modi said. “The polling yesterday and people’s enthusiasm shows that BJP is going to break all the old records,” he said. The Prime Minister said the manifesto of BJP was full of new energy for the development of Uttarakhand. He also talked about Covid-19 vaccination and said the BJP government left no stone unturned for helping people of Uttarakhand. “Those who used to doubt the Covid-19 vaccine, said vaccine would not reach remote mountain areas of Uttarakhand. BJP government worked day and night to save people from the virus,” he added. PM also talked about road and rail connectivity in Uttarakhand. “They used to say roads cannot be made in Uttarakhand. Today all weather roads are being made to connect Char Dham in Uttarakhand,” he said. He said the BJP government is working on important railway projects for Kumaun region and also mentioned the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. “I have a special connect with Uttarakhand. I know your honesty and patriotism. This is the decade of Uttarakhand,” he said. He said the “double-engine government” understands the pain of the poor and is working day and night to solve their problems. Uttarakhand goes to polls on February 14. UNI AO GK
