New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday wished Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih speedy recovery from Covid.
He also conveyed best wishes to him and the people of Maldives in overcoming the challenges of Covid and said India will continue to extend full support to his efforts in that regard.
The PM said in a tweet:
“Dear President @ibusolih,
“Hoping for your speedy recovery and good health.
“Our best wishes are with you and the people of Maldives in successfully overcoming the challenges of COVID. India will continue to extend full support to your efforts.”
Earlier on Saturday, the Maldives President announced on Twitter that he has tested positive for Covid-19.
The President said he learnt of his Covid positive status when he underwent a PCR test on Friday night before going on a tour to an atoll.
He stated that he was in home isolation and that he was doing well.
President Solih was to visit Sh. Foakaidhoo on Saturday to campaign for the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s candidate for the upcoming Komandoo by-election, Mohamed Rashid. He was to be accompanied by Speaker of the Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed.
