Says US military withdraw from Afghanistan may push militants to Kashmir, but Army ready to foil all attempts
Srinagar 25 June: General officer commanding of 15 Corps Lieutenant General D P Pandey on Friday said that there has been zero infiltration so far this year and the situation was being dealt effectively and professionally.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a passing out parade at JAKLI Regimental centre Rengreth in Srinagar, GOC said that whatever has been happening in Kashmir for the last 30 years has caused huge distress among the people but situation is not what it was before 30 years and army is ready to face any challenge and will dealt any situation effectively.
On being asked whether US military push out from Afghanistan will have any impact on Kashmir, he said that the US military withdrawal may push some militants but army is fully geared up to foil all bids.
The GOC said that there was only money coming from other side earlier under Narco modules and now drugs are sent as well.
“Jammu and Kashmir Police is dealing professionally and lot of drug modules have been busted,” GOC said adding that it is high time for parents, civil society and teachers to counsel and focus on children so they will stay away from drugs.
Replying a query whether there is any sort of impact on Kashmir’s security situation because of recent dialogue between J&K and New Delhi, he said that dialogue process and security situation are two different things.
“Dialogue always goes on while as security situation is a different process which is being tackled at different levels”.
Replying a query on militancy in Kashmir, he said that Kashmir is in need of network grid which will pave way towards peaceful atmosphere so that people can live peacefully.(KNS)
