Anantnag, Oct 19: Militants shot dead a police officer in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday late evening.
Police sources identified the slain police officer as Inspector Muhammad Ashraf. The incident occurred at Sundpora Kanelwan area of Bijbehara.
Sources added that the militants attacked the officer, Inspector Muhammad Ashraf, as he was returning home after offering prayers.
He was shifted to hospital in critical condition where doctors declared him dead.
The area was cordoned off after the incident and search operation was launched to nab the attackers. (KNT)
