NEET 2020, JEE Main 2020 exams would not be postponed. It was stated by the Supreme Court in today’s hearing. The exams would be conducted as per schedule- Take a look at the key highlights of SC hearing here.
The Supreme Court stated that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2020 and JEE Main 2020 Exams which are scheduled for the month of September would not be postponed. Students had filed a petition in the court, asking for the exam dates to be postponed again, till normalcy returns. The court, however, dismissed the plea today saying that the exams would be conducted and would not be deferred.
Another petition was filed by a group of parents, seeking SC’s intervention to ensure no further delay in the exam dates.

- Supreme Court has finally given the verdict that NEET, JEE Main Exam 2020 would not be postponed. The examination would be conducted by National Testing Agency, NTA as per official schedule in September.
- Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava pointed out that the relief being sought is not indefinite. He shared the developments till date and also points out that various exams like AIBE, ICAI were postponed. Even board exams of CBSE and ICSE, as well as NIOS, were cancelled.
- The hearing began and Justice Mishra noted that everything cannot be shut due to Corona. “Life cannot be stopped. We have to move ahead with all safeguards and all. Are you(students) ready to waste one whole year?” He also points out the even SC has started for Physical Hearing from today behind glass panels.
- The case was presented to the bench of Justice Arun Mishra, Justice B. R Gavai and Justice Krishna Murari. The bench heard the petitions for and against the case. Exams are scheduled to begin from September 1, 2020.
In related news, NTA is expected to release the JEE Main 2020 admit card on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. The admit cards have not been released as yet. It is expected that the admit cards may be released today. There is, however, no clarification or further information released by the NTA in this regard.

The petition filed for postponement of NEET and JEE Main 2020 examinations argues the rampant rise of COVID19 cases in the country and seeks relief from the SC. The petition has further requested that the examination be postponed till the situation normalizes.

Filed a few days after the request to postpone the entrance examinations, the petitioners have requested the Supreme Court to mandate that the medical and engineering entrance examinations be conducted as per the scheduled date. In their petition, the Gujarat Parents Association has pointed out that already a lot of precious academic year has been lost. Also, the constant delay in the examination cause mental stress to students.
As for the entrance examinations, in a similar relief requested, Karnataka HC recently refused to intervene for delaying COMED-K entrance examination in Karnataka where about 1 lakh students appeared. Gujarat CET is also scheduled to be conducted on August 24. Meanwhile, National Testing Agency, NTA has not released the admit card for JEE Main 2020.
JEE Main 2020 examination is scheduled from September 1 to September 6. NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2020 is scheduled for September 13, 2020. The admit cards are expected to be released 15 days ahead of the exam dates.
