Srinagar, June 27: Drivers who operate from Srinagar to Jammu Saturday staged a protest demanding that they should be allowed to ferry passengers from Srinagar to Jammu and vice-versa.
Pertinently, authorities have closed Srinagar-Jammu Highway for routine traffic and drivers are not allowed to ply on the route, in wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
Only vehicles carrying essential items are allowed to ply on Srinagar-Jammu highway.
Scores of Tata Sumo,Tempo Travels, Innovas’ Tavera operators other drivers of STRC Taxi Stand of Srinagar while staging the protest said that they are being deprived of their livelihood. They said transport is plying on every route while government has shut down the highway for them.
The protest was organized by ‘Jammu Bound Tata Sumo Tempo Travelers, Innova, Tavera Operators Union and it was led by Fayaz Ahmed Bhat of Barbar Shah Srinagar. (KNT)
