140 discharged, 100 still quarantined, admin on toes to keep pandemic away

Srinagar, Apr 28 (KNS): With 4 more fresh Covid-19 positive cases including two health workers, reported on Tuesday in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, the total toll in the Covid-19 affected district has reached to 58, officials said. They said quarantine centers established in the district are functioning smoothly under regular checks and monitoring of district administration.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), south Kashmir’s Anantnag district reported four more Covid-19 positive cases taking the overall toll in the district to 58. Officials said that two health workers are among four cases reported afresh.
“Earlier there were 54 Covid-19 positive cases in the district which jumps to 58 on Tuesday, including two health workers”, an official said.
The official said that majority of Covid-19 positive cases are from Nowgam area of Shangus constituency and Kharpora Larnoo area of Kokernag where administration has put every effort in place to maintain lockdown successful so that further threat could be defeated.
He said that those who had come in contact with positive patients have been kept into quarantine centers established in several areas including Pahalgam, Kokernag, Bijbehara, Akura and Salia. He also said that since the outbreak of pandemic in the district, 140 persons have been discharged from quarantine centers established in the district after following proper medical protocol and added that still more than 100 persons have been quarantined where doctors and other medical staff are keenly monitoring their health requirements.
According to official, after spike in Covid-19 positive cases in the district, several areas were declared red zones including Nowgam, Pushroo, Kuthair, Somburana, Telwani, Issiso, Aswara, Khodpora and Kharpora Larnoo while over two dozen areas have been declared as buffer zones where officials of Health, Municipality, CA&PD and Police are reviewing the need and supply and carrying out fumigation drives on regular basis.
However Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Dar is regularly monitoring and reviewing the situation in the district with officials including ADC Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, ACR Syed Yasir Farooq, ADC Gulzar Ahmad and several police officials. To keep the pandemic away, administration is regularly appealing people to stay indoors and make lockdown successful for the wellbeing of entire community. Administration is also trying to rectify lacunas wherever needed. (KNS)
