Srinagar, Apr 24 : Several Kupwara laborers stranded in Kartarpur Jalandhar on Friday said that they will die of hunger if not evacuated at earliest.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) over phone, stuck laborers told they have been left on the mercy of God as nobody is listening them in wake of lockdown.
They alleged that Jammu and Kashmir administration has also failed to take effective measures of their return.
Tariq Ahmad Lone told KNS that more than 50 laborers from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district have been stuck in Kartarpur and all are without food and water.
He added the savings of stranded passengers have already finished and they don’t have anything to eat and they are apprehensive that they will do of hunger.
He added that they contacted many officials and politicians over phone about their ordeal but no step was taken for their return. He added that if government will ensure our return to Valley, all stranded people are ready for going to quarantine voluntarily.
However when KNS contacted Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara Anshul Garg he said ,”share their contact numbers. We will reach out to them”.
It is pertinent to mention that over hundred labourers and other traders of Kupwara district have stuck in parts of India after countrywide lockdown was enforced in wake of Covid-19. (KNS)
