“Will start mass screening in red zone areas”
Srinagar, April 19: Jammu and Kashmir has received 12000 rapid testing kits to start screening of whole population in Red Zone areas.
A senior health official said that with the arrival of rapid testing kits ( 9000 for Kashmir and 3000 for Jammu) testing in Red Zones will be expanded.
KNS had already reported about the requisition of rapid testing kits by &K Government to center to start mass screening in red zones.
The official added that each box of rapid antibody tests contain supplies for ten tests and with the received supply J&K will be able to conduct 12,000 tests in the initial phase.
A health official associated with the arrival of kits said that about 1,000 tests will be sent to every red-zone to start mass testing. J&K has 90 red zones and out of which 76 are in Kashmir.
“if supply of these kits continues, we will start testing from the nucleus of each red zone and then expanding outward in periphery.”
According to the SOP issued by J&K government for red zones 100 Percent screening of all persons within the red zone has to be conducted.(KNS)
