Coronavirus cases are showing spurt, Govt closely monitoring situation, every single person with contact history being traced: Rohit Kansal

Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNO): The Covid-19 positive cases have shown a sudden spurt in Kashmir with seven more cases reported as positive from the Valley on Saturday taking the total number of active positive cases to 25 of which 21 are from the Kashmir. The total cases reported from J&K are 28 so far of which one has recovered and another one has died.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), official spokesperson Rohit Kansal in a tweet said that seven more have tested positive for novel Corona-virus.
Among the fresh seven cases four positive cases are said to have their contact with the already positive cases of religious congregation held outside the UT a member of which died on Thursday who became the first causality of the deadly virus. The other three have history from outside J&K and their travel history is being traced. Officials said that number of samples have been collected and many have been put in isolation wards on Saturday.
Nodal officer Sher Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) Soura, Dr. GH Yatoo told KNO that five samples have been collected today from the suspects and all of them were kept in isolation and the results are yet awaited. Nodal officer Kashmir for COVID-19 Dr SM Qadri said that 47 samples were collected today across the valley and among the earlier samples turned to be positive as of now and many suspected cases have been kept in isolation at chest disease hospital Srinagar and SKIMS.
Jammu and Kashmir Government’s official spokesperson Rohit Kansal in a tweet said that,” Tough to be harbinger of unpleasant news. But being informed is being prepared. 7 more positive cases in Srinagar today. 4 cases- history of contact with already positive cases of religious congregation; other three- travel history outside J&K contacts being traced”.
Later addressing a presser in Jammu, Kansal said that in Jammu and Kashmir, there are 28 positive cases among which only 25 are active, two have recovered with 21 cases from Kashmir and four from Jammu.
He said that the government is closely monitoring the situation and there is spurt in the cases in past weeks or so, adding that the aggressive efforts are underway to trace every single contact and test them it may cause some inconvenience but this is where government needs your (people’s) support to understand the situation.
As per the government figures the total number of positive cases across the Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 26. As per the daily information bulletin 5919 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 3535 persons have kept under home quarantine.
According to the bulletin on novel coronavirus, 227 persons have kept under hospital quarantine while as 632 persons have completed surveillance period. 1525 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far 532 number of samples have been collected for test of covid-19. Out of 532, 486 samples have been tested negative while as 28 have been tested positive among them two have recovered and a positive patient has died due to COVID-19 besides that reports of 18 samples are yet to come—(KNO)
