Another positive case in Ladakh, toll reaches 4, 33 samples taken in valley so far, 32 negative 1 awaited

Srinagar, Mar 16: One more patient from Jammu and Kashmir whose sample was sent to Delhi has been tested positive for coronavirus, taking the number of coronavirus positive patients in Jammu and Kashmir to three while as another case was tested positive in Ladakh.
According to wire service, Union health ministry in a tweet confirmed that there are four new positive cases of coronavirus including the one from Jammu and Kashmir.
“4 new cases #COVID19 – 1 each from #Odisha, #Jammu&Kashmir, #Ladakh and #Kerala have been confirmed since the last update. There are now a total of 114 confirmed cases in #India as of today, including 10 discharged, 3 cured and 2 reported deaths,” the tweet reads.
“Contact tracing activity of these positive cases has led to identification of more than 5,200 contacts, who are kept under surveillance” Ministry of health in another tweet said. With the fresh positive case, the total number of Coronavirus positive cases in J&K has reached to three while as Ladakh the number has risen to four, as per the tweet of Union Health Ministry.
Talking to media persons, Mission director, National Health mission Bhupinder Kumar on Monday said that one person with high viral load has been found in Jammu and samples have been sent to MCDC New Delhi for confirmation.
Suspected patient has very high viral fever and had no travel history but was in a close contact of already tested positive for coronovirus from sarwal jammu, he said adding that the already tested positive patient has a travel history of Iran.
He appealed the travellers from worst hit countries of coronovirus like Italy, china, Iran and South Korea to report to the concerned authorities.
Besides that he advised people to avoid public gathering and not to visit the congested places unnecessarily.
He shared helpline numbers +91-0191-2549676 (UT level Cell for J&K), +91-0191-2520982 for Jammu Division, and +91-0194-2440283 for Kashmir Division.
Dr S M Qadri Nodal officer for coronovirus in Kashmir division said that in kashmir valley so far samples of 33 patients were sent for testing , the results of 32 are negative while as result of one sample is yet to come.
He further added that 18 persons are in hospital quarantine inkashmir valley. Among 18 in hospital quarantine, 16 are in SKIMS, one in ITBP hospital Pantha chowk while as one in chest disease hospital Srinagar.
A senior health official said that 2478 persons in jammu and Kashmir union territory have been kept under surveillance.
He said on Monday more 321 travellers and persons have been kept under surveillance while as more 266 persons have been kept under home quarantine on Monday
He further added that eight more persons have completed their surveillance while as more 47 persons have been kept under home surveillance on Monday
Furthermore samples of five more persons was sent for testing, whose report is yet to come, he added
As per the daily information bulletin, the J&K government said that 176 persons completed their surveillance period of 28 days and so far only two cases have been tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), 2478 travelers and persons have been put under surveillance who are in contact with suspected cases besides that 2095 persons are under home quarantine.
The number of persons under home surveillance is 178 while as the reasons who are in hospital quarantine stands at 29. Furthermore 98 out of 106 samples have been tested negative while as two cases have been tested positive and reports of 06 cases are yet to come—(KNO)
