NIA seizes only tangible memory we had of our life together: Asiya’s son
Srinagar, July 10 : National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday attacked the house of a pro-freedom leader and chief of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Asiya Andrabi. The house is situated at 90feet Soura in Srinagar outskirts. NIA in a statement said that the approval for attachment of the property was granted by DGP, J&K as required under the law.
“Consequent to attachment, the property cannot be sold, transferred or otherwise dealt with in any manner without the express permission of officer making the order. Copy of the order has also been endorsed to Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar to enter the effect of attachment in the revenue records,” it added.
It said that the attachment has been done in connection with investigation of case under number RC-17/2018/NIA-DLI (DEM Case). “The owner of the house Asiya Andrabi has already been charge sheeted on 14.11.2018 in the case along with two other accused persons including Sofi Fehmeeda and Nahida Nasreen. All the three accused persons are in judicial custody presently. The Court of special Judge NIA New Delhi has taken cognizance of the case,” it added.
Meanwhile, Ahmad bin Qasim, son of Asiya Andrabi in his Facebook post said that the NIA has seized the only tangible memory they (family) had of their life together. “I was born in 1999. My father was arrested soon after my birth. We grew up in hideouts. There was no place we could call our home. In 2005, our father told mother that he wanted us to have our own place. One place where we would wait for him to return to. One warm place that he would dream of, living in the cold prison cell that makes one wish for death.
We
moved to father’s inherited place because we wanted to believe we are
connected, despite the distance. Then mother was imprisoned too. So it
was me and my brother, and the house,” he wrote. “Today, the National
Investigation Agency of India seized the only tangible memory we had of
our life together.
But if pain was to deter us, then why would I
have to live a life where I could only see my father in prison? Why
would I live a life where I can see him intimately only when he ceases
to be? We trust that Allah’s help is near,” he further wrote on
Facebook.(KNO)
