Doda | 26, July 2025: In a significant public outreach initiative, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Doda, Abrar Ahmed Kripak, on Friday organised a comprehensive Medical Health cum Eye Camp for commercial vehicle operators in Gundoh area of district Doda.
The event, held in collaboration with the Health Department and Jammu and Kashmir Police, aimed to ensure the physical well-being of commercial drivers by offering free eye examinations and general medical check-ups. The initiative was part of a broader effort to promote road safety and health awareness among those who spend long hours on the roads.
Alongside the medical services, the camp also featured an awareness programme on the NDPS Act 1985 under the government’s flagship campaign ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’. Speakers from various departments sensitised drivers about the dangers of drug abuse, its legal repercussions, and the broader impact on families and society.
Addressing the participants, ARTO Doda Abrar Ahmed underscored the importance of periodic health checkups, especially eye care, for drivers who operate in challenging terrains. He also urged the community to stand united against the menace of drugs, calling it a serious threat to youth and public safety.
Police officials present at the event reaffirmed their commitment to curbing drug trafficking and promoting awareness at the grassroots level.
The initiative received an overwhelming response, with scores of commercial drivers attending the camp and availing medical consultations. Participants lauded the efforts of the ARTO and called for more such camps in other remote areas of the district.
The programme concluded with a strong message — “Healthy drivers, safe roads, and a drug-free society.”
