New Delhi | July 22: In a major milestone for the Indian Army, the first batch of AH-64E Apache attack helicopters arrived in India today, marking a significant enhancement of the Army Aviation Corps’ combat prowess.
The arrival of these state-of-the-art helicopters is set to transform the Indian Army’s offensive and defensive aerial capabilities. Equipped with advanced sensors, night-fighting equipment, and precision-strike weapons, the Apaches are capable of operating in diverse terrains and challenging battle environments, including the high-altitude sectors of Ladakh and the Northeast.
The induction aligns with India’s broader military modernization programme and self-reliance goals. Once operational, these Apaches will provide the Army with greater agility, firepower, and situational awareness in critical missions. The Defence experts hailed the arrival as a game-changer, noting the Apaches’ proven performance in global theatres of conflict. The helicopters are being customized to meet specific operational needs of the Indian Army.
The Indian Air Force already operates a fleet of “Apache” helicopters, and with the Army now fielding its own fleet, joint force capabilities are expected to reach new levels of synergy and effectiveness
