Srinagar | July 22: In a significant step towards providing institutional support to the families affected by terrorism, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha launched a dedicated web portal designed to streamline relief efforts and ensure timely assistance to victims across Jammu and Kashmir.
“This initiative will simplify and expedite the process of providing financial relief, ex-gratia compensation, compassionate appointments, and other forms of aid to those who have suffered due to terrorism in the Union Territory,” said the Lieutenant Governor during the launch.
Developed by the Home Department in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the portal will act as a centralized platform to maintain district-wise data on terrorism-affected families. It will also record instances of encroachments on the properties of victims or their next of kin.
The system has been designed to ensure that every legitimate case is addressed promptly, while also eliminating duplicate or fraudulent claims. Lieutenant Governor Sinha is personally monitoring the redressal process for all pending and new cases across the UT.
To further facilitate the process, toll-free helpline numbers have been activated at the offices of the Divisional Commissioners in Jammu (0191-2478995) and Kashmir (0194-2487777). These helplines will function as citizen-facing control rooms, staffed with trained personnel to register and resolve grievances related to government support, compensation, and compassionate appointments.
The helplines are fully integrated with the centralized portal to ensure that all claims are formally recorded and acted upon.
To maintain oversight and drive accountability, Special Monitoring Cells have been established in the offices of the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police. These cells will regularly review case statuses, identify delays or bottlenecks, and coordinate with departments to ensure just and timely resolution.
The launch event was attended by senior officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; DGP Nalin Prabhat; Principal Secretary (Home) Chandraker Bharti; Principal Secretary to LG Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari; GAD Commissioner Secretary M Raju; Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri; Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar; IGP Kashmir VK Birdi; IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti; and SIO NIC S.
