City Traffic Superintendent Police (SSP) Ajaz Ahmad today issued an important advisory urging minors not to operate motor vehicles, especially cars, on city roads. Speaking at a safety awareness event, SSP Ajaz Ahmad emphasized the critical importance of following traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
“Driving without a valid license is illegal and puts not only the driver but also other citizens at significant risk,” SSP Ajaz Ahmad stated. He highlighted that minors driving without proper authorization can lead to severe accidents and legal consequences. He called on parents and guardians to monitor and guide young individuals, ensuring they refrain from driving before obtaining the legally required licenses.
In addition to this, SSP Ajaz Ahmad reminded all motorcycle and scooter riders to wear helmets at all times while riding. “Wearing a proper helmet is not just a legal requirement but a crucial safety measure that can save lives in case of an accident,” he said. The Traffic Department plans to intensify enforcement of helmet use and other traffic regulations in the coming weeks to enhance road safety.
The SSP appealed to the public to cooperate with traffic authorities and adhere strictly to traffic rules to reduce accidents and fatalities on city roads. He further stated that the Traffic Police will continue their efforts to create awareness and enforce laws to ensure a safer driving environment for everyone
Moreover, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, Ajaz Ahmad (IPS), announced the establishment of a Media Cell to ensure timely communication with the public regarding traffic updates and guidelines.
Speaking to the media, he stated that all press conferences, seminars, or programs conducted by the traffic police, as well as any advisories issued for the public, will now be communicated through this Media Cell.
In preparation for Eid-ul-Adha, special arrangements have been made to manage the expected traffic congestion. He assured that every effort is being made to ensure smooth traffic flow during the festive period.
