Srinagar : National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Wednesday impressed upon the administration to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the holy month of Ramzan, especially during Sehri and Iftar hours.
Sagar, who was interacting with the number of public and workers delegations here at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar said, “The power cuts mostly strike during Sehri and Iftari time. Unavailability of power plunges streets into darkness and makes it difficult for people to reach local mosques to offer prayers in pitch darkness. Assurances of the administration with regards to ensuring uninterrupted power supply have fallen flat. Such interruptions have become the order of the day here. How long will people tolerate it? Why is PDD pushing consumers to hit the roads? Why are not authorities taking strong note of the issue and acting against the erring officials of the department? Why should always consumers suffer?”
Sagar said the administration has failed to ensure availability of essentials besides intensifying market checking to curb black marketing, hoarding and profiteering in the markets. “Administration is not visible on the ground. Profiteers and black marketeers are having a field day in looting people. Prices of dates, and other Ramzan specific items are touching new heights every day. Concerned departments have failed to ensure stability of rates of commodities like rice, sugar, K. Oil, LPG. Strict adherence to government approved rate lists is seeing no implementation,” he added.
