New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday held a meeting here to review the security preparedness for the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir. The Minister said the pilgrimage should be easy for those undertaking it and it will be the government’s priority to ensure that the pilgrims face no problems. He also reviewed logistical preparations. This is the first time the Amarnath Yatra is resuming after Covid-19. The Minister instructed officials to ensure medical facilities and set up of more mobile towers to improve communication. Machines will be deployed to clear roads in case of landslides. With the pilgrimage being at an altitude of 6,000 feet, helicopters and ambulances will be deployed. An adequate number of oxygen cylinders have been organised. At the meeting, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir said that for the first time every Amarnath pilgrim would be given a RIFD card and insured for Rs 5 lakh. Tent accommodations, WiFi hotspot and proper lighting will be arranged. Along with this, live darshan of Baba Barfani, live telecast of morning and evening ‘aarti’ at the Amarnath cave and religious and cultural programme will be organized at the base camp. UNI AO MR
