SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today convened a meeting of Agriculture and Horticulture departments for making available the quality pesticides to the farmers of the district.
The concerned officers were directed to ensure availability of pesticides and insecticides to the farmers through proper sale outlets before the season starts. They were also instructed to mobilize the field functionaries in order to check the sale, if any, of fake and spurious pesticides.
The officers were directed to generate awareness among the farmers and distribute information brochures to them at their door steps regarding the compatibility of pesticide/ insecticide with their crops.
The enforcement team was directed for proper market checking and inspection to ensure quality standard of pesticides and insecticides products are available in the markets and stern action be taken against those found guilty of selling fake pesticides and insecticides and directed for sealing of their shops besides, canceling their licenses.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani; Chief Planning Officer, Khursheed Ahmed Khatana; SDM Zainapora, ACD, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Food Safety, Enforcement Wing and other concerned.
