Srinagar 30 March: The Asia’s largest tulip garden was thrown open on 25 March in Srinagar, witnessed footfall of 41261 tourists in first five days enjoying the bloom of the 15 lakh flowers planted over 30 hectares located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range.
Commissioner Secretary Floriculture, Sheikh Fayaz said that footfall from 25th of march to 29th of march, a total of 41261 tourists in which 21232 Local, 20105 national and 24 international tourists visited the garden.
“The cost of entry ticket for children is 24 Rupees while as for adults it is 59 Rupees”,he added.
He also said that the entire Kashmir is famous for its natural beauty. The opening of the tulip garden will add more charm to the tourism of J&K. We aim to make the garden not only an attraction for domestic tourists but a global tourist destination.
He further said that festival is being organised from April 3 to 8 April by tourism and floriculture department when the garden will be in full bloom. “The six-day festival will showcase handicraft, culture, cuisine.
“around 15 lakh bulbs of different varieties will mesmerise the visitors this year.The garden has 64 varieties of tulips which stay in bloom from three to four weeks,” he added.(KNS)
