Around 12000 samples taken, 109 persons recovered in J&K: Officials

Srinagar, Apr 24 (KNO): Twenty persons on Friday tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Kashmir pushing the total tally up in the J&K UT to 454. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that all these cases were confirmed at Viral Diagnostic Lab of SKIMS Soura and of them nine are from Bandipora, five from Shopian, 4 from Kupwara and two from Baramulla district’s Tangmarg area.

They added that among total 454 cases, 57 are from Jammu division and 397 are from Kashmir division besides that total number of active cases in Kashmir are 301 and 39 in Jammu division.  They said that 109 persons have recovered in Jammu and Kashmir among them 92 are from Kashmir division while 17 persons have recovered in Jammu division. “Four persons in Kashmir division and one person in Jammu division have died due to COVID-19,” said officials. 

Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for Covid- 19 at SKIMS told KNO that out of 395 samples tests on Friday, 20 were tested positive while as 375 were tested negative. 

Among 20 positive cases, 09 are from Bandipora, 05 from Shopian, 04 from Kupwara and 02 from Tangmarg and all positive cases have contact history, he said, adding that one more patient was discharged from Institute after recovery. Officials from Kupwara said that all positive cases are from single family and are contacts of earlier positive patients.

They said that two more patients have recovered and now total number of active positive cases in district is 37. Officials from Shopian said that out of 101 samples tested, five were tested positive, among them three are from Hirpora and two from Bemnipora while as seven more patients have recovered and have been discharged. 

The discharged patients include four from Hirpora, 2 from Kanipora and one from Sindoshirmal. Nodal officer for COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar Dr Salim Khan told KNO that all 145 samples that were tested on were negative and 360 more samples were received on Friday. 

Dr Tabasum Deputy Medical Superintendent at JLNM hospital told KNO that 8 more patients from Shopian are shifted to JLNM and toll of total positive patients being treated at JLNM hospital has reached to 45.

Dr Jameel Ahmad Mir Medical Superintendent at DH Pulwama told KNO that now samples are being taken at block level in district and on Friday 103 samples were taken in district and sent for reports.

As per officials figures 79 positive cases including one death and 27 recoveries are from Srinagar, 108 positive cases including 22 recoveries and one death are from Bandipora, 52 including two deaths and 12 recoveries are from Baramulla, 45 including six recoveries from Kupwara, 60 including 11 recoveries are from Shopian, 14 including two recoveries are from Ganderbal, 14 including nine recoveries are from Budgam, 6 are from Kulgam, 16 from Anantnag and three who all have recovered are from Pulwama in Kashmir division. 

In Jammu division, 26 including five recoveries are from Jammu district, 20 including one death and eight recoveries are from Udhampur, 4 from Samba and 4 from Rajouri including three recoveries, one from Kishtiwar who has also recovered and one from Ramban

As per the daily information bulletin 65,722 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 6,162 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 340 persons are in hospital isolation while as 260 persons are under hospital quarantine. 

According to the bulletin, 46,985 persons have completed surveillance period and 11,979 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 11,764 samples are available. 

Out of 11,764 the number of samples tested negative stands at 11,310 while as 454 have been tested positive, among them 340 are active and 109 persons have recovered and 5 persons have died—(KNO)
